Oceania Annual Conference
The annual Oceania JETAA conference took place from the 18th to the 22nd in Perth this year. I had a family emergency that called me back to the States, and so was unable to attend. However, Lachlan Grant was kind enough to step in and make the trek to sunny WA on our behalf. Details of the conference, and issues discussed, will follow in upcoming newsletters. A HUGE thank you to Lachlan for stepping up to the plate on such short notice and providing JETAA Canberra with representation at the event.
A mix of Japanese and Western Media
“TOKYO – Metropolitan police are stepping up a crackdown on illegal adult entertainment businesses run by people who have escaped from North Korea, fearing that some may be North Korean spies posing as defectors.” (Mainichi Shinbun)
Japan to receive rare earth from down under.
“CANBERRAAustralian Foreign Minister Kevin Rudd vowed Tuesday to clear the way for the long-term supply of the country’s rare-earth metals to Japan amid supply worries surrounding China, the world’s biggest producer of the metals” (Wall Street Journal)
Hope to see everyone out on Wednesday!
