JETAA Trivia

The details have been confirmed for the fourth annual JETAA Australia-Japan Trivia night, they are as follows:

Date – Monday, 14 September 2009
Time – 7.00 pm
Venue – Holy Grail, Civic (Cnr Akuna & Bunda Streets)
Cost – $15 each

Places are limited and experience indicates that available places fill up fast. Please book early to confirm your place at this event. For bookings please contact:

jetaatrivia@gmail.com

10% of all ticket sales will go to support JETAA International’s charity, Room to Read. More information on their work can be found here:

http://www.roomtoread.com

As with the last couple of years, the questions will be on both Australia and Japan so teams with both Australian and Japanese players will be at an advantage. If you can’t get a team of 8 together you can register as a single person or in small groups and we’ll find a team for you.

News from a new JET

Shirin Sane is one of the new JETs whom we farewelled a few weeks ago. She’s been in touch and here’s what she has to so about her new life in Japan:

It’s been truly manic, and I had a melt down yesterday getting lost on the roads in amongst the rice paddies (which by the way are gaijin traps and I’m going to fall into one!)…. but other than that, I love Japan! I love my apartment, my car, the food and my supervisor and work colleagues and all the people here! I taught my first kindy class today! I did a jikoshoukai for them and they LOVED ME! yay! Then I stayed and ate lunch with them, played, and now I’m back at the office! Glad to hear you are all well, please say hi to everyone back home for me!

O-Shaberikai

The next O-Shaberikai will be held on Wednesday, 2 September 2009 at the Holy Grail in Civic from 5.30pm onwards. Please do come along if you can.

For those who don’t know, the O-Shaberikai is a very informal monthly get-together where Japanese people staying in Canberra can meet Australians who have some interest in Japan. As it is informal, you’re not bound by time constraints so turning up late or leaving early is not a problem at all.
