Canberra JETAA Inc E-mail for week ending 7 August 2009

The 2009 movie night was a great success, thanks to everyone who came along and thank you to Megan for hosting. I think everyone enjoyed “Tampopo” and most attendees will never look at live crustaceans or egg yolks in quite the same way again.

Thanks also to Christie Harvey for stepping up and volunteering to be the JETAA Candle Festival liaison officer. Please give her as much support as you can as she undertakes this role.

JETAA Trivia – details confirmed – note new venue

The details have been confirmed for the fourth annual JETAA Australia-Japan Trivia night, they are as follows:

Date – Monday, 14 September 2009

Time – 7.00 pm

Venue – Holy Grail, Civic (Cnr Akuna & Bunda Streets)

Cost – $15 each

Places are limited and experience indicates that available places fill up fast. Please book early to confirm your place at this event. For bookings please contact:

jetaatrivia@gmail.com

10% of all ticket sales will go to support JETAA International’s charity, Room to Read. More information on their work can be found here:

http://www.roomtoread.com

As with the last couple of years, the questions will be on both Australia and Japan so teams with both Australian and Japanese players will be at an advantage. If you can’t get a team of 8 together you can register as a single person or in small groups and we’ll find a team for you.

O-Shaberikai

The next O-Shaberikai will be held on Wednesday, 2 September 2009 at the Holy Grail in Civic from 5.30pm onwards. Please do come along if you can.

For those who don’t know, the O-Shaberikai is a very informal monthly get-together where Japanese people staying in Canberra can meet Australians who have some interest in Japan. As it is informal, you’re not bound by time constraints so turning up late or leaving early is not a problem at all.
